Senator Leila de Lima clarified that her apology is exclusively for the Filipino people and not for her fellow senators.
Neophyte Senator Leila de Lima asked for an apology for walking out on an outraged Monday night probe of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights on extrajudicial killings in the country in the face of the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
The lady senator explained that she was so hurt after her fellow senators united to go against her in the said Senate probe.
She said that she does not deserve what she is undergoing or experiencing right now.
Senator Leila also emphasized that she did not hide any information, particularly the kidnap for ransom charges filed before the self-confessed assassin and former member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS), Edgar Matobato, who appeared and stood in the witness stand in the said Senate probe.
Meanwhile, the lady lawmaker clarified that her apology is only for the public and not including her fellow Senators, whom she has just accused of uniting to go against her.
