ECOP: Endo Is Illegal, Implement Labor Code

The group of businessmen and employers recognizes the illegality of the end of contract or endo and pushes for the implementation of Labor Code to get rid of it.

The group of businessmen and employers urge the Duterte administration to implement the provisions of the Labor Code in relation to the total eradication of endo or end of contract scheme in the private companies.

According to Donald Dee, chairman emeritus of Employers’s Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), the acknowledge that endo is illegal and they are in favor to get rid of it in the labor sector.

According to Ambassador Dee, the government must make the direction of their campaign clear and specify those who will be affected and also those who will be exempted from the rules.

Dee added that the problem is that the secretary himself of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Silvestre Bello III, is offering that 20 percent of the workforce will be left under contractual basis while the rest will be regularized.

According to Dee, the scheme presented by the Cabinet secretary makes a loophole and prone to abuse of some of the businessmen.
