Senior High Filipino Student Won South Korea Invention Competition

Senior high Filipino student won an invention competition in South Korea by claiming the gold medal at the World Invention Creativity Contest (WICC).

Alec Denji S. Santos, grade 11, a Filipino senior high student from Mapua Senior High School received a global recognition in an international invention contest last July 28-30 held in South Korea. The indigenous invention was called “Securitree” have won the gold award.

Taking up Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science Alec led his teammates to victory. Santos and his teammates invented the device that can detect illegal loggers and forest fires because it has a built-in sensor.

The device was designed to be installed on the trees in the forest, it has a solar panel, camera, sensors, and a camouflaged-themed box that can’t be easily identified when it’s already installed.
