North Korea Considers US Bombers Flyover in the South as Bluff

North Korea just laughed on the move of the United States to send bombers to the airspace of South Korea as a show of force.

North Korea was not threatened on the move of the United States to conduct a flyover on the airspace of South Korea following the nuclear test of Pyongyang.

This was the reaction of North Korea after two of the powerful US bombers, joined by US and South Korean fighter jets, flew over Osan Air Base, south of Seoul on Tuesday aiming to show US anger with North Korea’s nuclear weapons test conducted four days earlier.

The B-1s were joined by US F-16 and South Korean F-15 fighters in the low-level flyover of Osan Air Base, 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of the South Korean capital of Seoul.

On Wednesday, Pyongyang scoffed at the US Air Force’s show of force a day earlier and maintained position they are not afraid of this.

North Korea said Washington was “bluffing” and “blustering” with the flyover of B-1 bombers at the airspace of the neighboring country.

In a statement, Pyongyang’s Korean Central News Agency said, “they are bluffing that B-1Bs are enough for fighting an all-out nuclear war.”

Pyongyang claimed that the test they conducted on Friday showed it had a nuclear warhead that could be mounted on ballistic missiles.

It is a possibility that rises fears for the countries which are allies of US in the region and also poses a threat to US bases in some countries like South Korea, Japan and Guam.

Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, the US commander in South Korea, called the North’s nuclear test “a dangerous escalation” and “an unacceptable threat.”

“The United States has an unshakable commitment to defend allies in the region and will take necessary steps to do so, including operations like this one today.”

A US intelligence official said North Korea is the only country in the world that threatens others with a nuclear attack, and that Pyongyang shows no signs of backing off its nuclear program.

Following this statement, North Korea countered Wednesday that it was the US that was inflaming tensions.

“The US imperialists keep letting their nuclear strategic bombers fly over South Korea in a bid to seek an opportunity of mounting a preemptive nuclear attack,” the KCNA statement said.

The country said North Korea’s military was prepared to stop any US moves, it said, with a closing warning to Washington.

“They had better stop their rash actions,” the statement said.
