The Philippine representation at the 42nd World Chess Olympiad soaring high.

The Philippine men and women’s team continue to reap what they sow on hard mind-work at the end of Round 6 of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad at Baku, Azerbaijan.

Pinay (Filipino women) shamed the players from Mexico with a 3-1 score.

The Filipinas did not allow the woodpushers on the other end to make a score from board one to three but were unfortunate in board four where woman FIDE Master Shania Mar Mendoza was on the losing end.

Meanwhile, woman international master Janelle Mae Frayna holds a clean record after defeating board one player of Mexico Alejandra Guerrero Rodrigues.

Frayna is close to become a grandmaster and when it happens, she will be the first woman chess grandmaster of the Philippines.

Other Filipino winners at the 42nd World Chess Olympiad were: woman international master (WIM) Jan Jodilyn Fronda in board two and WIM Catherine Secopito in board three.

As of now, the Philippine women’s team has nine points to make it to the 10th place with nine other countries with the same number of points.

Filipinas are seeded number 46.
