Supreme Court Extends Status Quo Ante Order Vs Marcos Burial

The status quo order, suspending the Marcos burial, until October 18.

The Supreme Court (SC) extended the period of effect of the status quo ante order (SQAO) on burying the late former President Ferdinand Marcos until October 18.

Before the extension, the SQAO was effective until September 13, five days before the proposed Marcos burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) or the Heroes’ Cemetery on September 18.

On September 7, the oral arguments between the petitioners and the members of the Marcos family and the Supreme Court gave both parties 20 days to submit their memoranda.

Because of the extension, the high court suspended burying the late strongman at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
