It’s been a dream for the 27-year-old Vargas to fight with Philippine boxing superstar.

“It is a dream come true being in this position, being in a mega fight… fighting against the ‘Fighter of the Decade’ such as Manny Pacquiao. I’ve dreamt of this moment since I was 15 years old,” said Vargas.

He is 10 years younger than the Filipino boxer.

On Wednesday night, Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee arrived and they greeted by hundreds of fans and media.

He came out of his brief retirement to take on Vargas on November 5 which will be held in Las Vegas.

In an interview with Top Rank’s Crystina Poncher, the fighting Senator said, “I changed my mind [about retirement] because I love boxing and boxing in my life.”

Pacquiao said it’s all about time management so that he can divide his time between his work as a senator and his training camp, which some will take place in Los Angeles.

He added that he won’t fly outside the Philippines until two weeks before his clash with the Mexican-American champion.

“In this training camp we’ll train in the Philippines while I’m working [in the Senate],” said Pacquiao.

He maintains his position that he is still hungry to win, especially now that he will be coming in as the challenger.

“I’m hungry to get that belt. He’s the champion and I’m the challenger,” said Pacquiao.

On Thursday, Las Vegas time, Pacquiao and Vargas will hold a press conference.

Prior to this, Vargas once said that he has memories of Pacquiao defeating Mexican opponents.

“As a kid, you know what I thought, he would still be fighting by the time I become a champion… believe it or not, that’s what I thought. But I have much respect for him, he is a very talented athlete but now is my time. I’m a very talented athlete as well and I’m here to show it,” said Vargas.

Vargas was born in California but was raised in Las Vegas.
