Philippines suspend more miners that damage the environment and for violating environmental regulations in the country as environmental review ends.
As environmental review ends, the government announced to the public that they will suspend more mining company in the Philippines. This was after the government found out that more of the country’s mines violates the environmental regulations.
According to a news report of ABS-CBN news, the information was confirmed by the mining minister on Monday, September 5, 2016. But the Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Regina Lopez declined to say how many more mines will be suspended but told Reuters that “there will absolutely be more suspensions.”
The tension arises between the government and the mining industry in the Philippines after the Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Regina Lopez as she crackdown the miners that damage the environment .
“All the suspensions are absolutely due to environmental reasons, and my particular interest is the wellbeing of the community, that’s my benchmark,” Lopez said in a text message.
Lopez and her company pursue her actions for their environmental review about the mining companies in the Philippines and they have just finished last month.
