Balut Vendor Turned Beauty Queen – A once a balut vendor turned beauty queen, Dimple Ortega has now inspiring others after appearing as a contestant in the Willie Revillame’s “Willie of Fortune” segment of Wowowin, a game show in GMA 7 because of her story.
During thepopular segment of the show, Revillame interviewed the nineteen-year-old Dimple Ortega and the beautiful lady confidently shared her life on live television.
Dimple told Revillame that she was once a balut vendor when she was about 16 to 17 years old at Villarosa, San Pedro Laguna before becoming what she was now.
Looking jolly, Willie asked Dimple if there are people telling notices her look-a-likes. Dimple repeatedly answered, the actress Lovi Poe, which somehow can be seen resembling her.
Then, Dimple started talking about her story. She admitted that she is proud of her past and even granted Willie’s request to give a sample on how the lady calls for the signature “balut” shout. Dimple then shouted “Balut, balut, penoy, chicharon!”
Also, she added that her looks somehow was an effective asset as her goods are being bought in wholesale.
As part of the segment, the contestant introduced her mother, describing her to be ““the most beautiful and very supportive mother.”
Her mother then narrated the things her child experienced before like being teased and even given a nickname as “balut” for selling balut.
Her mother Che then advised her not to cry because balut selling is a noble job as you’re helping your family.
“‘Wag kang umiyak kasi ang pagtitinda ng balut ay isang marangal na trabaho at ipagmalaki mo ‘yon kasi nakatutulong ka sa pamilya mo.”
Che then thanked her daughter for being a good child, for helping their family as a whole. She also told Dimple to pursue her dreams as they will become a reality. The mother then assured that Dimple will be supported by her family because they love her.
Dimple replied with thanksgiving to her mother for the support she gets from their family.
