Automatic Rain Gauge And Flood Detector Stolen in Kabankalan City

A concerned netizen recently posted on her Facebook regarding the stealing of an Automatic Rain Gauge and a Water Level Sensor used to monitor the amount of rain falling and the depth of the river in order to prevent worst case scenarios.

Automatic Rain Gauge stolen Glady Reyes

A certain Glady Reyes posted on her Facebook a photo of the said device that’s been installed to prevent disasters in the area but was stolen by unknown people.

She urged the “People of the Philippines” to refrain from stealing any part of the gadget as it is so important. She wrote in Hiligaynon, the dialect in some parts of the Negros Island Region.

“People of the Philippines, kun makakita gani kamo sg amo ni itsura nga mga gadget, palihug man indi ninyo pagkuhaa ang maski ano nga parte sina. Ini tandem nga Automatic Rain Gauge kag Water Level Sensor. Gina monitor nya sini ang kadamulon sg ulan kag kadalumon sg suba para makapangaman kita sa baha.”

[People of the Philippines, if you would see such gadget, please do take any part of it. This tandem of Automatic Rain Gauge and Water Level Sensor monitors the depth of the rain and the river for us to be prepared for the flood.]

She showed in the photos she compared wherein the funnel that is needed to catch the falling rain and to measure it.

Reyes then made an announcement for that individual/s who stole the funnel to return it immediately to the Kabankalan City Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Office.

She also expressed her anger the certain individual inviting him/her to go to her office and she will buy him/her with a dozen of “tabo” or dipper.

The said device was installed at the Hilabangan Bridge in Kabankalan City, Negros Island Region, Philippines.
