Bato Takes Arrest As Punishment To Hotline Prank Callers

PNP Director General Ronald Bato dela Rosa expressed the penalty on prank callers of the newly launched hotlines.

BATO – Philippine National Police Director General Ronald Bato dela Rosa aired out that arrest would be the penalty for those who will be caught doing prank calls in the hotlines launched by the government.

Recently, the launching of 911 hotline nationwide and 8888 of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) took place for the benefit of the citizens.

911 hotline is intended for emergency purposes while 8888 is for complaints on erring government employees. Both hotlines were visibly launched for the benefit of the populace and were put up for specific functions.

Yet one report is going contrary to its goal as the public seem overlooks the purposes of 911 and 8888. A recent report in Inquirer updated that on 911’s first day of activation, prank calls outweigh the calls which are really emergency in nature.

According to the report, seven hours after the 911 was fully activated, it gained numerous calls – 2, 475 to be exact as stated. But out of 2, 475 calls, the calls which are really for emergency purposes is only 3%.

At press briefing at Camp Crame, PNP Director General Ronald Bato dela Rosa affirmed that those who will be caught doing prank calls will be arrested.
