Storm Carina Has Left But What Has It Left?

Storm Carina has left positive and negative things.

Students are first to benefit from the storms that come and leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Just like Storm Carina that has waved goodbye to the country Monday morning.

Storm Carina Exits

Due to the onslaught of Tropical Storm Carina, cl(–foul word(s) removed–) have been suspended in Abra and Cagayan wherein there are class suspension on all levels in the entirety of both provinces. In Mankayan town in Benguet, cl(–foul word(s) removed–) in all levels are also suspended. In Isabela, only elementary and high schools in public and private institutions have been suspended while in Dagupan City, college students did not benefit from class cancellation because only cl(–foul word(s) removed–) from preschool upto high school in both public and private institutions are suspended.

Thousands of passengers were also stranded because several air and sea trips have also been canceled due to the tropical storm.

Carina made landfall in Cagayan province on Sunday afternoon. It is expected to exit the northwestern part of Cagayan by Sunday night and eventually leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Monday morning.

Though issued with Storm Warning Signal number two, Tropical Storm Carina has left no significant damage in the province of Isabela. Farmers even consider the storm as a blessing because it ‘watered’their corn and rice plantations that have been dried up because of weeks without a drop of rain.

Meanwhile, the evacuees, accounting to 300 families that have evacuated from their homes in Yeban Norte and Benito Soliven, Isabela due to the rise of water levels, already went home. 10 coastal towns in the province have been affected by torrential rains which resulted in the rise of water levels in nearby coast and rivers.

All in all, there are 1,000 families or over 8,000 individuals who were affected by flooding because of Carina in Region 2.
