Bayan ko is one of the most recognizable patriotic song of the Philippines. It was originally penned in Spanish and translated into Tagalog by the poet Jose Corazon de Jesus.
The song was originally written for the Severino Reyes Zarzuela, Walang sugat (“no wound”). Bayan Ko popularized during the first People Power Revolution to regained cult during the Marcus dictatorship, with the Left singing their own version in protests.
