In an unexpected turn of events President Rodrigo Duterte offered Vice-President Leni Robredo a cabinet position that will see her leading the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) via a phone call.
Despite the fact that Vice President Leni Robredo who ran under the Liberal Party, the president ended the circulating questions that whether or not he would offer the Vice President a cabinet post in his current administration.
“Mas mapaglilingkuran natin ang ating mga kababayang walang tahanan at maipagpapatuloy natin ang ating pangakong itulak ang kaunlaran at kaginhawaan para sa ating mga kapus palad na kababayan.” Robredo said in a statement.
President Duterte personally called Vice-President Robredo to offer the position. In a different statement release by the Vice President Camp saying that Robredo is thankful for the opportunity, which will give her the chance to maximize and fulfill her responsibilities and the Vice President is asked to attend the first cabinet meeting.
“Ang pagtugon sa mga pangangailangan sa pabahay ay matagal nang adhikain ni Jesse. Maisasakatuparan ito at mabibiyayaan ang mga nasa laylayan sa pakikipagtulungan ng lahat (Addressing the housing needs of those who are in need has been a longtime advocacy of Jesse. [With the position], this could be fulfilled and the marginalized will benefit with everyone’s cooperation),” she said
Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council is in charged for the implementation of the National Shelter Program. It will be the third consecutive time that the Vice-President is being named the Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.
