Jordan Clarkson Signs $50 Million Deal, Will Stay With Lakers.

Jordan Clarkson recently signs a four-year contract with the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, says Sham Charania of The Vertical.

The incoming third-year guard was restricted from free agency and has even said before that he has no plans of leaving LA.

The Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 2105. He also averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 43.3 percent shooting, and 34.6 from the three-point line per game in his second year in the NBA.

The signing of Clarkson came after the Lakers signed big man Timofey Mozgov to a four-year $64 million free-agent contract.

“I definitely want to stay in L.A.,” Clarkson said to The Vertical.

“This is home for me. I haven’t even thought about playing anywhere else. L.A. is where I want to be,” he added.

Clarkson was among the rising stars after two seasons with the Lakers. He was acquired in the 46th overall pick on 2016.

Clarkson has been sought to play for the Gilas Pilipinas for the Olympic qualifiers. But, it didn’t happen. The 24-year-old guard really had a solid season with the LA even in the rookie years.

The LA Lakers seems to be building a younger roster since Clarkson teamed up with D’Angelo Russell, forwards Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr. Now, with Brandon Ingram, the number 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft last month.

After the retirement of Kobe Bryant, the Fil-Am player is seen to be an important part of the Laker’s rebuilding project.

It is expected that Clarkson would be playing better and more games after this deal. This is something Filipino basketball fans will be anticipating for.
