The official 12-man line-up of the United States of America in the upcoming 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics. The US Team selected the final roster led by OKC Thunder’s main man Kevin Durant and New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony.
Some of the most prominent names in the NBA failed to make it to the final line-up of the most popular national team in Rio Olympics due to some reasons. NBA Finals MVP LeBron James and NBA Season MVP Stephen Curry were not included in the line-up.
Here’s the Complete Line-up of the US Team for Rio Olympics:
- Kyrie Irving
- Klay Thompson
- Kevin Durant
- Carmelo Anthony
- Draymond Green
- Harrison Barnes
- Kyle Lowry
- DeMar DeRozan
- Paul George
- Jimmy Butler
- DeMarcus Cousins
- DeAndre Jordan
The US Team led by Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony hopes they can conquer the world and win the Gold Medal in Olympics basketball for the third straight time. Durant and Anthony were considered as two players with Olympic experience after a number of stars skips Rio Olympics.
During the last international basketball competitions participated by the United States, Kyrie Irving was named as the MVP of the US Team that included Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousin and DeMar DeRozan as Team USA captured the gold.
In the highly anticipated 2016 Rio Olympics, the Americans are considered as heavy favorites to win the gold medal despite the fact that they won’t look as imposing as expected after the withdrawals of James, Curry, Westbrook, Paul and Harden but definitely Team USA is the team to beat.
For the record, Carmelo Anthony’s participation in the Rio Olympics will marked a personal milestone for the NBA superstar as he will become the first U.S. Men’s basketball player to appear in a total of four Olympics for Team USA. Kevin Durant on his part set a U.S. record for averaging 19.5 points in London and also was the MVP when the U.S. won the 2010 world championship.
Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski will coach the Americans for the third and final time, tying Henry Iba’s team record. He will lead a team with strong NBA credentials — nine were All-Stars this season — but a little short on international experience after the withdrawals.
