Imelda Marcos: Stories Revealed
Imelda Marcos, the former First Lady of the Republic of the Philippines being the wife of the late President Ferdinand Marcos, has been into many controversies and stories.
During the regime of his husband, President Marcos, Imelda has been known to be a really influential woman. She has been known around that country and the world for her immense collection of shoes, jewelry, love for arts, and her loyalty to her husband.
Her influence even came up placing her name in the dictionary for the word, “Imeldific” which means, ostentatious and extravagant.
Imelda Remedios Visitación Romuáldez was born on July 2, 1929, in Manila. Her parents are Vicente Romuáldez and Remedios Trinidad. Although, they came from a wealthy clan in Leyte, Imelda’s father was considered the poorest.
Remedios was the second wife of Imelda’s father that caused conflict with the first children of Vicente pushing Remedios and the young Imelda to live in a garage.
In a book by Carmen Navarro Pedrosa called “The Untold Story of Imelda Marcos”, it is written there that garage they lived looks like “a carport with roof, posts, and cement flooring…The flooring was barely a foot from the ground. The place was terribly humid.”
Imelda’s mother left them after suffering from pnevmonia. And these bitter past she experienced was never mentioned when she became the First Lady of the Philippines. And she also sent bulldozers to destroy the garage where they lived before.
After that chapter in her life, what she became might seem to be the reason why she wore the most grandiose dresses and jewelry and lived a wealthy life.
And the one who once lived in a garage lived in mansions together with her husband, Ferdinand Marcos.
Many people didn’t know about these things.
Currently, Imelda Marcos serves as the Congresswoman of Ilocos Norte where late Pres. Marcos came from.
