Sen. Enrile Defends Mayor Duterte Over Citizens Arrest

Incoming President Rody Duterte got an unlikely ally on his latest statement regarding the controversial citizen arrest which got negative reactions some news media personalities who are always looking for mistakes in every statement released by the incoming president. The newest ally of Pres. Duterte is no other than Senate Minority Leader Sen. Enrile.

According to the oldest lawmaker in the Philippine Senate, Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, the law allows citizen to help in the arrest of dr** lords and if needed, k!ll them when their lives are at risk. The senator who served for the past few decades as a lawmaker and Senate President, Mayor Duterte’s statement on citizens arrest has a legal basis.

The law allows citizens’ arrest if those in the illegal dr** trade are caught in the act of committing a crime, he said. Citizens can engage alleged dealers in an armed fight if they are morally convinced that the suspects are committing crimes in their presence, he added.

The 92-year-old Juan Ponce Enrile who was recently release from jail due to some health reasons said that he does not see anything wrong with Mayor Rody Duterte offering bounty to citizens for the head or arrest of dr** lords because the national government usually places reward money for the arrest of those wanted by law.

Although Sen. Enrile defended the incoming President on his pronouncement on citizens arrest, deputy minority leader Sen. Vicente Sotto III, former chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board, cautioned citizens in arresting drug lords who usually have armed guards in protecting their profitable illegal drug operations.
