BIR Denies mass resignation.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue denied the reports that BIR employees plan a mass resignation to protest against the administration of Rodrigo Duterte, following the pronouncement of incoming pronouncement that he will abolish the government agency.

Reymari De La Cruz, BIR Public Information and Education Division chief, issued a statement to deny the reports. He said that there is no reason for them to resign despite Duterte’s remarks that he will shut down the agency.
“While we may have been hurt by the statements of President-elect Duterte, said statements are not enough reasons for us to resign and abandon our mandate to collect taxes for nation-building,” he said in the statement.
The alleged mass resignation was first published by The Daily Tribune. According to the newspaper report, the BIR personnel plans a mass resignation starting July 1, 2016, the first day that Duterte will assume the office.
It added that the officials of government main tax collector were offended by the incoming president’s statement that the bureau is one of the most corrupt agencies in the country.
The article also said that the Deputy commissioner Lilia Guillermo was hurt by the accusations. She is now contemplating in filing an early resignation to protest against the Duterte administration.
De La Cruz also said that Lilia Guillermo was not interviewed by the newspaper.
Furthermore, De La Cruz said that they respect Duterte’s opinion and they take it as a challenge to rise again.
