Jim Paredes meme of Duterte surfaced topic in social media gained criticisms. It can be seen on his post that the veteran singer posted an image with the face of president-elect Rodrigo Duterte altered into Sto. Niño’s body.

The veteran singer captioned the photo, “I now reject the Son of God from Davao.. I believe in Duterteronomy as my bible.” On the top written, “TATAY DIGONG LOVES YOU. HE IS YOUR ONLY HOPE AND SAVIOUR.”

Many reacted by saying it disrespects the president-elect himself and most of all, the Sto. Niño which is considered to be holy by the Catholics. Other even noted this act as blasphemy to their christian faith. “if you don’t respect Pres. Duterte, you should have at least respect the image of Sto. Niño”, a comment post responded by a netizen.

Paredes on the other hand, did not hold back in giving his opinion as he replies to the comments on his post. In reply to to a reaction of a netizen, he wrote, ” I am waiting for your opinion after 3 months. Tignan natin”.

Other netizen relate the act of the singer as “bitter”. They suggested that the singer must move on and unite for the common good of all. They noted that Digong is not considered as god by the majority who elected him but a mere voice of people in this democratic type of country.

The veteran singer can be recalled as a member of the well known APO Hiking Society and previously reported to be in conflict with Mocha Uson, a known supporter of Duterte.
