Jose bagged the Best Actress award for her role in the film entry “Ma’ Rosa” while the “Spider-man 2” actress Dunst was one of the juries in this year’s festival.
In an interview with the press and ABS-CBN News, the 52-year-old actress said that Dunst was moved when she delivered the speech with daughter Andi Eigenmann.
“Sabi ni Kirsten sa akin, she was touched because she thought it was a beautiful speech and that [I grabbed the hand of my daughter],” she said.
Jose took the stage with Eigenmann, who was also part of the film, and acclaimed director Brillante Mendoza to deliver her acceptance speech.
Jose said that it was her instinct that made her grab the hands of her daughter and introduce the young actress to the audience.
“Ako naman, I go by my instinct, that’s how I felt. Iyon din naman ang mararamdaman nang tao, hindi naman natin puwedeng i-dictate iyan eh,” she explained.
Jaclyn Jose is the first Filipina actress who bagged the prestigious award at the festival.
“Ma’ Rosa” also stars Maria Isabel Lopez Felix Roco, Jomari Angeles, Julio Diaz, Ruby Ruiz and Neil Ryan Sese.
Jose Previously worked with Brillante for the film “Masahista” which is also one of the entries of Cannes Film Festival in 2005.
