Maria Isabel Lopez denies stealing spotlight at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Actress Maria Isabel Lopez has denied “stealing the scene” at the 69th Cannes Film Festival red-carpet in France. This was after she became one of the trending topics on the micro-blogging site Twitter.
In an article she published on Glitter.ph, the former beauty queen apologized to the “Ma’ Rosa” film director Brillante Mendoza and lead actress Jaclyn Jose for stealing the spotlight, adding that it was not intentional.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to my director Brillante Mendoza and the lead actress Jaclyn Jose that there was no intention on my part to be a scene stealer and take the spotlight away from them,” she said.
Lopez gained the attention of netizens for wearing a stunning Albert Andrada emerald dress. In their group photos, a noticeable “space gap” between her and her co-stars were also seen. This made her stood out among her companions.
Her photos circulated online and several photo memes have gone viral on Twitter. Netizens also tweeted the hashatg #BeLikeMaria.
Lopez explained also the reason why she created a gap. According to her, the trail of her gown was so long and she needed to stay away so it will not be stepped upon.
“That’s the reason for the ‘space’ that I created between me and the rest of the actors. As they say inside the Paris metro, ‘Please mind the gap.’ My gown was being stepped upon and if you can only see how dirty it is on the tail,” she aid.
Lopez denied that it was not her intention to steal the scene, saying that she is just protecting herself from falling down and protecting the gown from getting dirty.
