Will Pacquiao Run For President In 2022?
The former world boxing champion and now Senator-elect Manny Pacquiao has been asked if he will be running for president in the 2022 elections.
The Filipino boxing icon then replied while laughing in a report by ABS-CBN, saying that it is not on his mind.
“Wala po sa isip ko yan,” Pacquiao said.
“Alam nyo, yung posisyon na ‘yan, sa totoo lang hindi ka mailagay kung gustuhin lang yan without the approval of God,” he added who is known for his religious stands.
[You know, that position, you won’t be placed in that position if it’s just a want without the approval of God.]
The now senator-elect Pacquiao said that the race to the presidency is a destiny.
After Pacquiao’s last fight with Timothy Bradley on April, he then decided to take politics more seriously and ran for the senate.
He ran under the party of Vice President Jejomar Binay, United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), and recently proclaimed as a winning candidate ranked seven among the twelve winning senators.
Senator Manny Pacquiao won by having over 16 million votes.
In the report, Manny Pacquiao promised to be active in the Senate as he is criticized for his frequent absences during his term as the Representative of Saranggani province at the House of Representatives.
He added that will participate in verbal arguments in the Senate if he needed to but admitted to rather lessen the English in the debates but use Filipino instead for other to understand him better.
