UK Envoy Positive With Incoming President Duterte

The United Kingdom (UK) envoy to the Philippines recently expressed their confidence in the incoming administration of the clear winner of the May 2016 elections, presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte.

In a report and interview on CNN Philippines, UK Ambassador to the Philippines Asif Ahmad said that they are waiting for positive changes in the Philippines based on the promises made by the incoming president, Rodrigo Duterte.

Ambassador Ahmad is among the foreign observers who watch how the May 2016 elections is done.

Ahmad even recognized Duterte’s platform and statements about a peaceful Philippines.

“Violence in the world coming from extremisms, this is something we are concerned about the Filipino and it requires a global effort. We are very encouraged on what Mayor Duterte’s made on his platform and pronouncements,” said Ahmad as quoted in the report.

He also had an interview with ABS-CBN’s “Morning @ANC” saying the British government will support the Duterte administration.

According to the UK Ambassador, they are positive with what the Filipinos had expressed during the elections showing their hopes and wishes. He added that there is no politician could ignore this.

Ahmad also pointed out that the United Kingdom will continue to support the Philippines.

The Ambassador said that the “real obligation” will start on the first day of the incoming president’s office. The envoy also wishes that the new administration would be a success. Ahmad said that UK will be the country’s partner.

Ahmad also explained about investors saying the UK already known the potential of the Philippines for a long time that’s why, UK becomes one of the major investors in the country.
