In a report by GMA News, Villar said in an interview that he was asked by the incoming president to take the position and is accepting it.

“I confirm that Presumptive President Rody Duterte asked me to be his DPWH Secretary and after consulting with my family and constituents, I have decided to humbly accept his offer,” Villar said as quoted in the report.

Mark Villar is the son of the former senator Manny Villar who was known to be connected to the “C-5 Extension case” which was revealed after being accused of inserting an extra P200 million in the General Appropriations Act (GAA) to enable the road extension and then reach his real estate  properties resulting to higher value.

His mother, Sen. Cynthia Villar also confirmed the acceptance of his son of the appointment.

In an interview by Inquirer, Sen. Cynthia Villar, who was in Davao City together with his husband, Manny Villar and son Mark, she said that Mark and Duterte already talked.

According to Sen. Cynthia, the incoming president wanted someone who is honest, and has no record of corruption.

With this, many have been speculating that this is a sign goodwill because of the unity two parties of Nacionalista Party and PDP-Laban.

Leaving the position he had, Las Piñas Rep. Mark’s vacancy will call on a special election just to fill the vacancy.

What can you say about Duterte’s actions with this?
