Presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte gave his warning to the taxi drivers who does not give exact change to passengers.

In a press conference, Duterte said that he considered such act as “illegal exaction or extortion”.
“Yung mga taxi both dito sa Davao pati sa Maynila, alam mo pag kinuha mo pera ng tao dahil wala kang sinsilyo (coins or change) at di mo binalik, that is estafa.”
“It is not your money and you go away with it,” he added.
The tough-talking outgoing Davao City mayor urged cab companies in the country to provide their drivers with loose change beforehand. He also encourage the public to “try to figure out the amount that you would have to pay to reach your destination”.
Based upon an article published by RachFeed, Duterte also gave advised to drivers who doesn’t have loose change to have their bills converted to smaller denominations or coins at a nearby store.
Early this year, House of Representatives’ transportation committee approved a bill that will protect the commuters from dishonest and opportunistic cab drivers.
According to the said bill approved by the congress, commuters should receive exact amount of change from the drivers. It also emphasizes that passengers have the right to transport to their destination no matter what is the condition of the traffic and the length of travel.
