Statement of Malacañang on Marcos Jr. amid the Soaring Oil Costs Affecting Countless Filipinos

Malacañang assured the Filipinos that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. continues to work and guarantees his presence amid the sitaution.

Iran previously warned the world to prepare for oil at $200 a barrel. According to Jetti Petroleum Philippines president Leo Bellas, if the oil hits $200 per barrel, diesel may cost as much as P150 per liter in the Philippines while gasoline might be at P120 per liter. Such figure would surely double the struggle that the Filipinos are experiencing now.

The United States, Israel, and Iran are seemingly not over with their war. However, undeniably, several other countries across the globe including the Philippines are greatly affected by the conflict.

In the Philippines, the costs of fuel have increased thrice already and diesel already hit P140 per liter. Pres, Bongbong Marcos already announced a State of National Energy Emergency in the country amid the high costs of oil.

The Philippines is heavily-dependent on imported oil. Thus, the government is currently seeking for oil supply from other countries. The restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz has reportedly affected the global oil flow.

Tehran closed the Strait to vessels that are linked to the United States and Israel following their joint airstrikes against Iran. U.S. Pres. Donald Trump previously issued an ultimatum against Iran to open the Strait but it refused to do so.

Instead, Iran said it might fully close the Strait of Hormuz. It recently made its restrictions against the vessels linked to U.S. and Israel official.

Amid the ongoing war in the Middle East that affects countless Filipinos with the high oil costs in the country and the increasing prices of the basic commodities, Malacañang assured the people of the presence of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Based on News5, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro also assured the Filipinos that Marcos Jr. continues to work to help the Filipinos amid the situation. According to the Palace official, the work of the President is visible.

“Kitang-kita po natin kung paano magtrabaho ang Pangulo. Hindi nagbabakasyon kundi nagtatrabaho,” Castro said.

Based on the post, Atty. Claire Castro also assured the Filipinos that the funds of the government will be used for the people and the projects of the government. The Malacañang press officer also stressed the presence of Marcos Jr.

“Ang garantiya po ng Pangulo ay ang presensya po niya at ang mga utos po niya, ang mga polisiya na inilalatag sa taumbayan,” the Malacañang press official said.

Recently, amid the soaring oil costs in PH which is affecting countless Filipinos, presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos called on the SSS, GSIS, Pag-IBIG Fund, and PhilHealth to suspend the collection of monthly contributions and loan payments.
