Sen. Trillanes Press Conference Inside Camp Aguinaldo Barred by AFP

Former Navy captain turned senator of the Republic, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV was bared by the AFP from holding a press conference inside Camp Aguinaldo. Sen. Trillanes was not allowed according to AFP spokesman Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla to use the facility inside the main headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

In an advisory given by the Magdalo group to the media, they asked them attend a press conference by the senator who accused Mayor Rodrigo Duterte via various news media expose and was used by some presidential opponent to pin down the mayor but failed. The conference of the senator was supposed to held at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club inside Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

The advisory given to the media did not contain the topic of the press conference to be conducted by the vice presidential candidate who will be ending his term as senator after the 2016 national election, but some sources revealed that he will make another expose against the leading presidential candidate Mayor Rody Duterte of Davao City.

The AFP told the media that “The AFP strictly maintains its non partisan role and will stick to its primary mandate of ensuring the security and the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections,” Padilla said. “We are quite sure that the senator knows this.”

Brig. Gen. Padilla appealed to “all parties to please respect the non-partisan role of the Armed Forces.”

Sen. Trillanes, a former Navy officer who led at least two coup attempts during the Arroyo administration, will instead hold the press conference at Max’s Restaurant on Scout Tuazon in Quezon City, according to the latest advisory from his office.
