Here’s what Duterte said on alleged ill-gotten wealth.
Davao City Mayor and presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte has issued a statement regarding his alleged ill-gotten wealth. Senator Antonio Trillanes earlier claimed that he has P211 million on his account at Bank of The Philippine Island (BPI) in Pasig City.
According to a post from Duterte2016 Facebook page, the presidential front-runner said that if he has that big amount of money, he would not keep it in a bank outside his City and he would not disclose it under his name.
“If it is dirty money I would keep it in a bank in my jurisdiction where I can influence bank officials not to disclose it and name it under an alias and under multiple bank accounts or better yet deposit it on a foreign bank account,” he said.
The tough-talking Mayor also said that if he has millions, he would have sent her children to universities outside the country and he would have also sent his ex-wife Elizabeth Zimmerman to best doctors in Asia for her treatment.
“I should have sent my children to universities outside of the country. I should have sent my ex-wife to the best doctors in Asia for her treatment and not just in my city,” he further said.
Senator Trillanes claimed that Duterte has more than P200 million on his BPI account. He also claimed that it was not declared on his Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) in 2014.
Yesterday, Senator Trillanes also insisted that Duterte has more than 41 properties across the country. The said properties are named after him and his kids.
