Rodrigo Duterte said that he will close the congress if threatened with impeachment.
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said that he will shut down the congress if he will be threatened by impeachment. He is now the leading presidential candidate according to surveys.
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV recently claimed that Duterte has more than P200 million in his bank account. He also said that he will impeach him right away if he will win in the vice presidential race.
Duterte has already denied that he is hiding any ill-gotten wealth. He stressed that his two bank accounts contain only 50,000 and 17,000 each.
In an interview with reporters and ABS-CBN News at a campaign rally in Olongapo City, Duterte said that he will close the congress if we will face impeach comolaints.
“P*****, impeach mo ako dahil sa P17,000? Kalokohan, ipasara ko na lang ang Congress,” he said.
On Wednesday, Trillanes revealed that Duterte has P211 million in his joint account with daughter Sara Duterte. It was reported that the said money was not declared on his Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) in 2014.
Spokesperson of PDP-Laban Peter Laviña denied the existence of bank accounts. But, journalist Ellen Tordesillas posted on her Facebook account that her friend has managed to deposit in the account to prove it.
After the photo circulated on social media sites, Duterte admitted that it does exist. However, he reiterated that it does not contain millions.
Duterte told also his supporters not to believe Trillanes’ claims. He also said that if he truly have that amount of money, he will not run for the presidency and instead use it to retire and enjoy a comfortable life.
