Nonito Donaire Jr. Stops Zsolt Bedak In Round 3

Nonito Donaire Jr. wins over Zsolt “Mr. Left Hook” Bedak and stops the fight in round 3 to retain the WBO Super Bantamweight title last Apri 23 at the Cebu City Sports Complex.

The match was stopped due when referee Russel Mora waved after Donaire scored three knockdowns. On the third round at 2:44, the bout ended.

Donaire even expressed his gratefulness about the win. He also said that he dedicated the win to his father and trainer, Nonito Donaire Sr.

The win by the Filipino ended the 10-fight winning streak of the Hungarian Bedak.

In an interview in USA Today, Donaire said:

“I didn’t get back into this title position to hold it to fight b- and c-level fighters.”

“I want to be the best. I want to fight the best. And I’m willing to fight anybody — Rigondeaux, Frampton, Ruiz. You name it,” he added.

Nonito even said that in a report in ABS-CBN that he was grateful to win and knockout his opponent.

The five-time champion also expressed how he already knew that he will win against the Hungarian.

“Going into the fight alam ko nandoon ‘yung init at sinimulate namin ‘yun sa training,” he said as quoted by ABS-CBN.

[Going into the fight I know the heat (of the fight) and we simulated it in training.]

“Alam ko four to five rounds manghihina rin siya, sanay na po ako doon,” he added.

[I know in four to five rounds, he’ll be weakened. I’m used to it.]

Nonito Donaire Jr. has now a record of 37 wins, 3 losses, including 24 knockouts.
