Grace Poe and Escudero meet with Ka Eduardo Manalo.
Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero confirmed in a press interview that he and Sen. Grace Poe met Ka Eduardo Manalo, the executive minister of Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).
The Nationalist People’s Coalition standard-bearer recently met with an official of the bloc-voting religious group but it was her first time to have a meeting with the INC executive minister.
Based upon the report of Inquirer.net, Senator Chiz Escudero stated that they met at around 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April, 25, 2016, a day after the final leg of the presidential debate.
According to the vice presidentiable, they only discuss about their platforms but did not talk directly regarding the upcoming May 9, 2016 National Elections.
Just recently, Vice President Jejomar Binay met with the INC executive minister to formally sought the endorsement of the religious group and weeks ago, Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas along with his wife, Korina Sanchez met the Executive Minister for a similar “courtesy call”.
Other presidential candidates; Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago have yet to announced wooing the support from one of the most influential religious groups in the country.
On Sunday, April 24, 2016, all five presidential candidates; Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Grace Poe, former Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas, Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago face off in the final presidential candidate.
The candidates tackled the pressing issues in the country including corruption, traffic, problems face by Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), joblessness and many more.
The final leg of the Pilipinas Debates 2016 was brought by ABS-CBN and it was held at PHINMA University of Pangasinan in Dagupan City.
