The President of the Republic of the Philippines defended his younger sister Kris Aquino on her use of a government property, the presidential chopper during the actress visit in the Visayas to attend a campaign sortie of the Liberal Party’s candidates Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo.

The presidential sister Kris Aquino who came out to support and campaign for the candidacy of Liberal Party bets Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo drew flak online after photos showing her allegedly using a presidential chopper to attend campaign rally for Liberal Party went viral on Facebook.
The photos were posted at the official Facebook page of the Municipality of Dalaguete, the town in Cebu where Aquino and her party landed. Aquino then traveled by land to Argao town where she joined the president in campaigning for Roxas and his running mate Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo.
The Philippine national government through Malacañang Palace has justified Kris Aquino’s use of the presidential chopper, saying members of the president’s immediate family are allowed to ride with him in official government vehicles.
Presidential aspirant Mar Roxas on his part claimed that Kris Aquino’s presence at the LP sortie did not require extra costs. Mar Roxas was quoted as saying “I think she was with the president right? She is the sister of the president. She is a member of the president’s family. There are courtesies and privileges extended to the president’s companions,” Roxas told reporters.
