The tough-talking mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte visited the volatile region of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) particularly the province of Maguindanao. During the mayor’s visit to the province, he received a rousing welcome from the people of the region and in one of his speech he even called himself as the President of the Moro People.

Despite the fact that Mayor Duterte lacks allies among the local officials of Maguindanao, but most of the residents in the province were rooting and supporting the candidacy of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
The 71-year-old Mayor Duterte visited Buluan town in Maguindanao wherein he reciprocated, declaring his devotion to the Muslim communities in Mindanao. The province of Maguindanao is considered as the richest vote province in the ARMM based upon the data from the Commission on Elections.
According to Mayor Duterte during his visit to the region, he is the only candidate who has their interests at heart as he noted that there is no one among the presidential candidates except him that can speak about the problem of the Moro people.
Mayor Duterte also noted that the problems of the BBL, poverty and hunger can be only be solved under his presidency and as he is running for president and he will fix Mindanao. He was quoted as saying “if I become president, if Allah gives his blessing, before I die since I am old, I will leave to you all a Mindanao that is governed in peace,” Duterte stated.
