The Liberal Party’s standard bearer, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas attacks Mayor Duterte once again as the word war between Roxas and his rival Mayor Duterte continues. According to Mar Roxas, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is a “threat to democracy.” In an official statement right after the SWS survey results released showing Mayor Duterte as the leading candidate, Mar Roxas noted that the mayor is indeed a threat.
Mar Roxas was quoted as saying during an interview with the media at Liberal Party “He is a threat, he is a threat to democracy. Kasi it is his way, or no way. He is a threat to our way of life,” Roxas said.
The Liberal Party’s standard bearer added further that “Una, sinungaling siya, pangako niya na sa anim na buwan susugpuin nya ang krimen. Dalawampung taon siyang namumuno sa Davao,” Mar Roxas said, citing the data from the PNP.
“Kakampi niya ang NPA. Itong mga nangongolekta ng revolutionary tax, nagsasamantalaga sa mga maliliit na mga magsasaka, mga maliit na negosyante. Anong klaseng commander-in-chief yan, na kakampi niya ang mga pumapatay sa ating mga pulis at sundalo,” Roxas added. “Wala siyang respeto, respeto sa buhay, respeto sa kababaihan, simbahan, respeto sa ating lipunan. Akala lahat patutsada, lahat joke, lahat kabig bawi, kaya hindi pwede na yan ang iiral sa ating bansa,” he said.
The statement of Mar Roxas came after the Social Weather Station released the latest presidential preference survey results wherein the mayor of Davao City dominated the list of potential Philippine President.
Due to the statement released by Mar Roxas to the media, the spokesperson of Mayor Rody Duterte, Peter Tiu Laviña, hits back at Mar Roxas saying that the real threat to democracy is the “the clique of the Liberal Party and the ruling elite.”
According to the camp of Mayor Duterte, it is not democracy that is being threatened by Mayor Duterte but it is Mar Roxas and his ambition t become president of the ruling class which was also represented by Sen. Grace Poe and VP Binay.
