The tough-talking mayor of Davao City, presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte finally edged out poll frontrunner Sen. Grace Poe in the first quarter survey of the Social Weather Station. According to some netizens for the very first time the survey company admitted that Mayor Duterte’s call to become a President is indeed overwhelming.
The latest SWS Survey results for President was first published on Businessworld early Monday, April 11, 2016. Based on the survey results, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte got 27 percent who preferred him to be the next president compared to the former survey frontrunner, Sen. Grace Poe who went down in popularity with 23 percent ratings.
SWS and Businessworld noted that the survey was conducted last March 30 to April 2 through face-to-face interviews with 1,500 adults. Based upon the margin of error at +/-3, the neophyte senator is “statistically-tied” with Vice President Jejomar Binay at 20 percent.
Liberal Party standard-bearer and the administration’s bet Mar Roxas ranked at third place with 18 percent while Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago remained in last place with just three percent.
The 71-year-old Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who was also dubbed as the most popular candidate on social media was up by four points, from his 23 percent rating in earliy March, whenthe last face-to-face surveys was done.
Before the survey results by SWS was released the supporters of Mayor Rody Duterte staged one of the most well-attended political rally in Alabang, Muntinlupa although it was not reported on national TV and the Duterte-Cayetano tandem also made history for their well-attended caravan from Pasay City to Muntinlupa which was attended by hundreds of thousands of Duterte supporters taking six hours to reach their destination.
