Watch: Gov. Zubiri Decries Political Harassment Due to their Support of Mayor Duterte

A video of Bukidnon Governor Jose Ma. R. Zubiri decrying political harassment by the Office of the President and the administration party due to their people’s decision to invite and throw their support to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on his presidential campaign. Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was invited by the governor and other political clans in Bukidnon to be the guest speaker to Kaamulan Festival.

The viral video of political harassment against the province of Bukidnon was first published on Facebook on Thursday morning by journalist named Editha Zaragosa Caduaya. Based upon the video published online, Gov. Zubiri expresses sadnes over the apparent snub by the Office of the President requesting to declare the culmination of “Kaamulan Festival” as a non-working holiday in the province.

Based upon the schedule of activities of the Kaamulan Festival, the culmination was supposed to be held on April 1, 2016, or after the month-long celebration that starts in the midde of February until the end of March 2016.

In the viral video, Gov.Zubirirecounted that as early as March 5, he wrote a letter to the Office of the President containing the request to declare the culmination of the “Kaamulan Festival” as a non-working holiday in the province but the Office of the President but their effort failed.

Due to the slow response of the first letter by the Bukidnon governor to Malacanang, Gov. Zubiri wroter another letter, 15 days after the first letter asking for clarification. It was then that the governor learned that his request has been referred to the Philippine Commission on Historical Studies.

The Bukidnon governor noted that for the very first time in the history of “Kaamulan Festival” has encountered a glitch of not being declared as a non-working holiday in the province. According to some sources, the Malacanang snub of the governor’s letter was because of the fact that the administration learned that presidential candidate Mayor Rody Duterte was the guest speaker of the affair which was attended by the people of Bukidno who wants the mayor to lead them after the national election.
