The country’s most popular presidential candidate on social media Mayor Rody Duterte added another crown to his jewels as he leads in a recent mock poll conducted in more than 1,500 Seven Eleven convenience stores nationwide wining more than half of the votes.
According to Philippine Seven Corporations management, Mayor Duterte was the preferred candidate of 58 percents of 7-Eleven customers with over half-a-million Slurpee cups bought by numerous Duterte supporters in the companies 1,650 outlets across the country from March 23 to April 1, 2016.
Based upon the results released by 7-Eleven, none of the other presidential candidates voted next to Mayor Duterte with 14 percent of the participants in the convenience store’s poll said they were still undecided on their presidential candidate, a month before the May 9, 2016 national elections.
Philippine Seven Corp. marketing communications division head Emmanuel Lee Esguerra also revealed that Sen. Grace Poe ranked third in the mock poll, taking 11 percent of the vote followed by Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago with 6.3 percent.
Former national survey frontrunner Vice President Jejomar Binay only got 6.3 percent in the 7-Eleven mock poll while Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas ranked last in the mocked poll with 4 percent.
The 7-Eleven mock poll was launched in the United States during the 2000 presidential elections with positive results as they predicted former Pres. George W. Bush as the winner compared to Sen. John Kerry. 7-Eleven was also instrumental in the 2008 when the results of the poll showed that Pres. Obama wins over Sen. John McCain.
In the Philippines the 7-Evelen mock polls also predicted the Pres. Aquino will win the presidential race with 38 percent preference which is slightly lower with the official results of 42 percent for Pres. Aquino.
