Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ricardo Marquez, the Philippines top officials in the enforcement agency of the country expressed doubts and questioned Mayor Duterte’s plans to wipe out criminality and corruption within three to six months if he wins as President in the 2016 national elections.
According to the PNP Chief during an interview with the media, even the most advanced countries in the world have failed to completely eradicate criminality.
The PNP Chief was quoted as saying “Baka salita lang yun kasi even the most advanced countries with the best police equipment, they have CCTV [cameras] around them, but you know, drugs continue to happen even in the most advanced countries in the world. Crime will be a part of our lives,” he said.
Among the five presidential candidates only Mayor Rodrigo Duterte set a time-table for his vision for the Filipino people. Mayor Rody Duterte is running on a platform of transforming the whole Philippines into a crime-free country. On his various speeches he stated that he will use the police force to haunt criminals across the country. In order to achieve such a huge task, he promised to increase the salary of all uniformed personnel who will fulfill his dreams of a crime-free Philippines.
Due to the promise of Mayor Duterte, the PNP Chief, Gen. Marquez stressed during an interview that the law enforcers should never allow themselves to be “executioners” and directly disobey heir mandate to “serve and protect.” Mayor Duterte did not categorically said that he will order all police officers to kill all criminals without due process.
