Nacionalista Party (NP) Decided Not to Endorse Any Presidential & Vice Presidential Candidates

The Nacionalista Party, one of the oldest political party in the Philippines decided not to endorse any presidential and vice presidential candidates according to Sen. Cynthia Villar, one of the leaders of the party. According to the senator, their party, Nacionalista headed by former senator Manny Villar, is a free zone this May 2016 national election.

In an interview with the media, Sen. Villar was quoted as saying ““Wala, free zone tayo (No one will be endorsed, we will have a free zone),” said Villar. The Nacionalista Party leadership said that they decided not to endorse anyone, especially in the Vice Presidential race, because the candidates were all their friends.

Based upon the official list of Vice Presidential Candidates, three of them running for the same position were all members of the Nacionalista Party, they were Senators Alan Peter Cayetanao, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Antonio Trillanes IV.

With just 41 days to go before the May 9, elections some members of the media asked the Nacionalista Party leader that if Marcos’ high ranking in the national surveys would persuade the NP to support the only son of the late Ferdinand Marcos, Sen. Villar replied that the free zone policy would not change.
