Sen. Marcos Edged Out Sen. Escudero Take Top Spot in the Latest Pulse Asia Survey

Senator Bongbong Marcos is now the leading Vice Presidential candidate in the latest Pulse Asia survey as he edged out longtime survey front runner Sen. Chiz Escudero. This is also the first time that Sen. Marcos overtook the lead in the Vice Presidential survey results. The Pulse Asia survey is commissioned by ABS-CBN and it was conducted from March 8 to 13, 2016.

The son of the country’s longest-serving President, Sen. Bongbong Marcos got 25 percent while his closest rival Sen. Chiz Escudero got 24 percent. Pulse Asia said that with ± 1.5 percent error margin at 95 percent confidence level, the two senators are statistically tied for first place.

Sen. Marcos’ rating greatly improved by three points compared to his previous rating during the last Pulse Asia Survey, while Sen. Chiz Escudero’s rating fell by one percentage point, compared to the previous survey results.

Congresswoman Leni Robredo, the Liberal Party’s vice presidential bet was chosen by 20 percent of the respondents, allowing her to enjoy solo second place.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s running mate Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano got 13 percent, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV (6 percent) and Sen. Gringo Honasan (5 percent). Based on the Pulse Asia results in terms of geographic area, Marcos leads in the National Capital Region (35 percent) and the rest of Luzon (29 percent). Robredo is the top choice of Visayan respondents (34 percent) while Cayetano is the winner in Mindanao (24 percent).
