The government agency said that all taxi meters will have to be re-calibrated to reflect the new flag-down rate as well as the lowered rate for distance and waiting time.

According to LTFRB, from P3.50 per succeeding 300 meters, ordinary cabs will now charge P3.50 per succeeding 500 meters. The board said that from the original P3.50 per 120 seconds rate for waiting time, it will be made P3.50 per 90 seconds.

Aside from the flag-down rate for ordinary taxis, airport cabs’ flag-down rate, on the other hand, will also be lowered from P70 to P60. From the original P4 per succeeding 300 meters, airport cabs will now charge P4 per succeeding 500 meters.

It will also charge P4 per 90 seconds instead of the original P4 per 120 seconds. Airport cabs will still charge P4 for the first 500 meters.

The LTFRB clarified that the lowered rates will be implemented nationwide, except for cabs in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). In the CAR, the flag-down rate will be lowered from P35 to P30.
