The tough-talking Mayor Rodrigo Duterte of Davao City is now considered as the biggest gainer in a survey conducted by The Standard. The mayor already surpassed VP Binay’s rankings and inched closer to overall leader Sen. Grace Poe, who lost several points but remained on top.
Mayor Rodrigo Duterte gained 4 points in The Standard Survey which put him in second place with 24 percent of voter preference in The Standard Survey conducted from February 24 to March 1, 2016. The Davao City Mayor surpassed VP Binay’s 23 percent and moved closer to Sen. Grace Poe who got 26 percent.
Liberal Party’s standard bearer Mar Roxas was ranked fourth with 22 percent while Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago lagged with 2 percent. According to The Standard the national margin of error is at + or – 1.8 percent, Binay, Poe and Duterte are “statistically-tied” in first place, the Standard reported.
Based upon the survey results, across major geographic areas, Poe and Binay were tied in the National Capital Region, North/Central Luzon and South Luzon/Bicol with a +/- 4 percent margin of error.
Mar Roxas continues to secure his hold in the Visayas, except in Eastern Visayas where Binay led. Meanwhile, Duterte led in all regions in Mindanao.
According to The Standard in terms of socio-economic class, Mayor Duterte overtook Sen. Grace Poe to become the top choice of Class ABC with 30 percent, but Sen. Grace Poe is still the top choice of respondents belonging to Class D and E.
The survey had 3,000 respondents from 79 provinces and 17 cities of Metro Manila. All respondents said they were registered voters sure of voting in the May 9 elections.
