Senatorial candidate and the country’s most popular boxing icon, Rep. Manny Pacquiao was allegedly offered cash by the ruling Liberal Party worth P400 million just to be with their side in the highly anticipated May 2016 national elections. The alleged offer to Manny Pacquiao was first revealed by one of the supporter of presidential candidate Mayor Duterte.
Former governor and renowned columnist Manny Piñol revealed on his official Facebook Page titled “Pacquiao’s fortitude: Pacman refused P400-M offer to Join LP Slate,” the veteran journalist noted that the ruling Liberal Party came to Manny Pacquiao to get the boxer’s support and join their ticket in exchange for millions of “campaign funds.”
According to Piñol, Manny Pacquiao was first offered with P300-million and the party will also settle his problem with the BIR but Manny Pacquiao refused so the offer went as high as P400-million.
The journalist also stated that in interview with Pacquiao’s legal councel Franklin “Jing” Gacal, Manny’s principle could not be bought even by the reigning Liberal Party.
Rep. Manny Pacquiao is currenlty under the ticket of the United Nationalist Alliance as one of the senatorial candidate that belongs to Vice President Jojo Binay’s political party. The world’s only eight-division boxing champion is one of the consistent senatorial candidates included in the list of possible winning senators based upon the surveys conducted by both Pulse Asia and the Social Weather Stations.
