One of Mindanao’s most reliable news media organization, MindaNews revealed on Monday that they monitored a total of 117 ad placements, which means that forty-eight minutes or 35.5% of the entire 135-minute presidential debate on Sunday.
According to reports, seven of the campaign ads came from the presidential candidates, except Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, and three (3) from the Commission on Elections (Comelec). The ads were spent across six (6) commercial breaks of 8 minutes each.
Based upon the ads spent during the presidential debate, Vice President Jejomar Binay, Sen. Grace Poe, and former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas had two ad placements each, while Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago had only one and Mayor Duterte did not spent on ads during the debate.
Although Mayor Duterte did not spend on ads, he proved once and for all that he is indeed the king of social media among the presidential candidates as he generated the most buzz on Twitter.
Based upon the reports from Twitter counts, Mayor Duterte garnered more than 322,000 tweets followed by VP Binay with 212,000 tweets, Roxas got 78,000 tweets, Sen. Poe has 69,000 tweets and Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago got 65,000 tweets.
