“Volunteer” Supporters Joins Motorcade of Duterte-Cayetano Tandem as Campaign Starts

Volunteerism is the main reason why presidential candidate Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Vice Presidential candidate Alan Peter Cayetano made headlines on social media as more than 100 vehicles joined their motorcade in support of their candidacy. A group of volunteers joined forces to show their support with Mayor Duterte and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano in Zamboanga City.

According to retired Judge Mike Muin of the local chapter of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan revealed in an interview with Inquirer that they were overwhelmed with the support to their bet the Duterte-Cayetano tandem. He was quoted as saying “these are all volunteerism, no campaign funds involved and the support is very overwhelming and strong.” he stated.

President Emil Aquino of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Zamboanga also said “it was a trial balloon” and they did not expect that many supporters would show up. He revealed that they just posted their activities on Facebook and didn’t expect that a huge number of volunteers will show up for their support.

Walid Amil of Doctors for Duterte said the participation was almost instantaneous. “We spent our own money, all the doctors believe in Duterte, he walks the talk. No promises but you see real action, Davao is one example,” he said.

During the motorcade of Duterte-Cayetano supporters in Zamboanga City a total of 150 four-wheeled vehicles joined the group and more than a hundred motorbikes participated in a motorcade that started at Nuñez Street and ended at Paseo del Mar.
