The Miss Universe crown was considered as one of the most coveted international title given to a country and the Philippines representative to the world’s most prestigious beauty pageant, Pia Wurtzbach comes home bringing the crown that eluded the country for 42 years.
Pia Wurtzbach arrived in the Philippines on Saturday morning, one month after she successfully won the Miss Universe title. She arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 on board Philippine Airlines flight PR538.
The 26-year-old reigning Miss Universe greeted the Filipino fans with the following statement: “Thank you very much for coming here. I know it’s quite early but I appreciate your taking your time to come here,” she told the media at NAIA Terminal.
Pia Wurtzbach become the only third Filipina to win the much coveted Miss Universe crown since the days of Gloria Diaz and Margarita Moran-Floirendo who won title during the year 1969 and 1973 respectively.
During the arrival of Pia Wurtzbach she was welcomed by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. chairperspon Stella Marquez Araneta.
“I’m so excited. I wasn’t able to sleep last night. Every time I think about my trip back here, I tear up a little bit because I feel like it has been so long and I have so many things to share. I can’t wait to share it all with you,” she said.
The 2015 Bb. Pilipinas-Universe title holder whisked off to the Novotel Hotel at the Araneta Center in Quezon City which will be her home for her week-long homecoming tour. She will be very busy with several events lined up for her – a grand parade, a charity event, a homecoming special, and the wedding of her best friend Pauleen Luna to Vic Sotto.
