Duterte Promised Sen. Revilla Will be Given the Right to Bail Once Elected

The tough-talking mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte promised the people of Bacoor City in Cavite that once elected president, he will make sure that Sen. Bong Revila will be given the right to bail. Mayor Duterte was in Bacoor City on Thursday, during a event attended by Revilla’s wife Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado and his brother Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla.

Mayor Duterte’s statement regarding the situation of Sen. Bong Revilla was in response to a question asked by a member of the audience: “Kung sakali kayo ay manalo sa halalan bilang presidente ng Pilipinas, magiging patas po ba kayo sa paglilitis sa aming mahal na senador?”

Duterte responded: “Ako, you can be very sure, lalabas ‘yan, lalabas siya diyan. I cannot guarantee na ‘yung kaso mae-erase, pero I will see to it that he will be given the right to bail.”

The statement made by Mayor Duterte was greeted by cheers and applause from the audience who were supporters of Sen. Bong Revilla and his family. Thousands of Bacoor City residents filled the Bacoor gymnasium during Mayor Duterte’s visit to the city, one of the richest in terms of number of voters in Cavite.

Mayor Duterte who is running for President under the PDP-Laban Party visited the home city of Sen. Bong Revilla to sign the pact that would make Bacoor a sister city of Davao. Sen Ramon Revilla Jr. is one of the three senators now facing allegations of plunder for supposedly funnelling their pork barrel into bogus NGOs.
