Sen. Cayetano: A Duterte Presidency is a “Disaster” Only for Criminals

The running mate of presidential candidate Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano lashed back at the jab of opponent Sen. Antonio Trillanes who earlier stated that a Duterte presidency would be a “disaster” for the Philippines. Sen. Cayetano noted that under a Duterte Presidency, it will be a “disaster” for criminals and erring government officials only.

In a statement released to the media on Thursday, the Vice Presidential hopeful, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano stated “Yes a Duterte presidency will be a disaster. It will be a disaster for drug lords, criminals and corrupt public officials,” Cayetano said.

The 45-year-old Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano who places third in the Vice Presidential preference polls, said that those who should be afraid of a Duterte presidency are those who are benefiting from corruption and criminality.

Mayor Duterte earlier states that if you don’t want a peaceful country and a corrupt-free government, then don’t vote for him.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano also took a swipe against fellow Nacionalista Party member Sen. Trillanes, saying that he was “not paying attention” to the supposed concrete plans of the Duterte-Cayetano tandem in curbing criminality and stopping government corruption.

In an interview which aired on Wednesday, Trillanes said that Duterte’s infamous tactics on stopping criminality and enforcing peace and order in Davao City may not be effective on a national scale.
