The Social Weather Station released a survey about the future of the Philippines next year and the results was overwhelming as results showed that 92% of Filipinos are hopeful for the year 2016, despite the political controversies and natural disasters that rocked the Philippines in 2015.
According to SWS the survey was conducted from December 5-8, 2015 with a total of 1,200 adult respondents. SWS noted that 92% of the Filipinos are hopeful about next year, while 8% are entering the coming year with fear.
During last year’s SWS survey, the figure was slightly higher at 93% of Filipinos entered 2015 with hope. This year’s survey, also stated that Filipinos who are entering the new year with fear rose slightly. Last year, 6% of respondents reported entering 2015 with fear.
In terms of geographical area, Metro Manila registered a 3-point increase. From 91% in 2014, it rose to 94% in 2015 – the highest since 2011 (96%), according to SWS.
But hope in the coming year fell slightly in Mindanao and Balance Luzon, with both areas posting a 3-percentage point decline. In Mindanao, it dropped from 91% in 2014 to 88% in 2015, while in Balance Luzon, it dropped from 96% in 2014 to 93% in 2015.
Meanwhile, there was a one-percentage point decrease in the Visayas, from 91% in 2014 to 90% in 2015.
